Possible clearing before more smoke this weekend
Smoke impacts today are expected to remain over
southwestern Idaho primarily due to both local and regional fires. There will be widespread haze throughout the
day, particularly over southern Idaho and the Panhandle due to regional
transport of smoke. This evening, expect smoke to drain into the Treasure
Valley and within the Purcell Trench across the Panhandle. Southwest winds
aloft will continue to bring smoke into Idaho from fires burning in Oregon and
California. Tomorrow, expect similar conditions and patterns with continued
clearing before a stagnant atmosphere traps smoke this weekend.
