Learn About Smoke

Wildfire smoke is a complex mix of pollution. Fine particle pollution is a major part of smoke and a threat to public health. It can travel deep into the lungs and may even enter the bloodstream. During a wildfire, fine particles can make outdoor air quality worse. Because of their small size, wildfire smoke particles can even enter homes and buildings, impacting indoor air quality too.
