Air Quality Advisory Remains in Effect for the Nez Perce Reservation
Description of Air Quality Event:
Due to
wildfire smoke from the Lawyers Complex, the Air Quality Advisory issued for
the Nez Perce Reservation remains in effect. Wildfire smoke will continue
to move in and out of the area during the day and overnight. Some areas may be
more impacted than others, so please take appropriate precautions.
Affected Areas:
All areas
on the Nez Perce Reservation.
Air Quality Index (AQI) Category:
Air
quality in the town of Nezperce is currently in the “Hazardous”
category. Areas of the Reservation along the Clearwater River Corridor from
Stites to Lenore and the Camas Prairie communities of Craigmont, and Reubens
are in or trending toward the “Unhealthy” category. Air quality is currently
in the “Moderate” category for the western portion of the Reservation
including the communities of Lapwai and Culdesac. Winds are forecasted to be
variable for the next 24 hours, so local air quality will improve and worsen as
smoke moves in and out of communities.
Restrictions:
No EPA/NPT
burn permits will be approved. This action does not
apply to
fires set
for cultural or traditional purposes (FARR General Rule for Open Burning,
Section 49.131).
Next Update:
These
restrictions are in effect through 10:00am Thursday, August 13th,
2015. Conditions will be reassessed at that time.
