The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has lifted an Air Quality Forecast and Caution and is notifying residents of Boundary County of improved air quality. Air quality is currently in the MODERATE category. However, depending on wind direction and fire activity, it could become degraded once again. The pollutant of concern is Fine Particulate Matter (PM2.5).

Fire safety restrictions are still in effect in north Idaho. Contact your local fire jurisdiction prior to conducting any open burning.

Health Impacts and Recommended Actions

When air quality is moderate, air quality is acceptable; however, people who are unusually sensitive to air pollution may experience health impacts and should consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion.
