Air quality forecasts for today range from the Moderate to Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category.
Models
indicate that smoke impacts across southern Idaho, especially within the Snake
River Plain, will decrease this afternoon and evening and continue to improve tomorrow,
though smoke might linger longer than models predict. Widespread haze
will remain though slight, but brief, improvements are expected late this
afternoon and again tomorrow afternoon. Smoke drainage overnight will be a big
contributor to smoke impacts.
The Panhandle will see brief improvements today in the late
morning and early afternoon before smoke from eastern Washington and southern
British Columbia enters the area. Central Idaho continues to experience the
highest monitor readings. This smoke will rise today as the temperature warms
up and move across the terrain before settling into drainages this evening. The
Salmon area will see deteriorating conditions this morning.
