Air quality forecasts for today are in the Good to Moderate Category.
On Monday, a ridge pattern will develop ushering in hot temperatures and dry conditions. Surface winds will be light and variable in direction with winds from the northwest to southwest and locally easterly winds in the morning. Over the prairies of central Idaho, there will be northeast winds all day.
Smoke will continue to affect the Central Idaho Mountains the greatest this afternoon. Decreased fire activity will limit smoke production this morning; however, conditions could ramp up this afternoon as temperatures increase and mixing rises. Central and northern Idaho are expected to see smoke aloft and hazy conditions. Transport will generally be to the northeast today as the ridge of high pressure brings a consistent southwest flow.
HRRR-Smoke Vertically Integrated
Smoke initialized at 06Z (12am MDT) and valid at 3pm MDT 08/15 shows limited
smoke aloft over much of Idaho with local pockets of increased concentrations
near active fires.
