Air quality forecasts for today are in the Good to Moderate categories.
Morning satellite imagery shows relatively clear conditions across the state with higher impacts reaching into the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups and Unhealthy category over the Panhandle. This smoke will track to the south today, improving air quality over the Panhandle but reaching central Idaho by 1 p.m. and into Adams, Valley, and Lemhi Counties by 3 p.m. this afternoon. On the western side of Idaho, this smoke is expected to drain into the Treasure Valley via the Weiser and Payette river basin drainages reaching western Payette and Canyon Counties by 11 p.m. tonight. Along the eastern side of Idaho, this smoke will drain into the Upper Snake River Plain via the Birch and Lemhi drainages reaching as far south as Rexburg. By tomorrow morning, this smoke will encompass all of southern Idaho with the highest impacts in the Central Idaho Mountains and the Middle Snake River Plain. At the same time, a second push of smoke across the southern Panhandle will track to the west.
