Smoky weekend ahead

Air quality forecasts for today are in the Good to Moderate Category.

Smoke will infiltrate the southern Panhandle and central Idaho today entering Benewah and Latah Counties and then Bonner and Idaho Counties by 9 p.m. local time. It will slowly dissipate tonight. Smoke from Oregon and California will impact the Treasure Valley, Owyhee County, and Twin Falls County Saturday morning. It will expand into the Middle and Upper Snake River Plain and then the Teton Valley by 3 p.m. local time Saturday. By midnight Sunday, heavy smoke concentrations are expected from Mountain Home south to the Nevada border and east to the Montana and Wyoming borders before slowly dispersing throughout the day. Another wave of smoke is expected Sunday afternoon that will cover all of southern Idaho. North Idaho will have a fairly clear Saturday followed by smoke impacts on Sunday. The smoke will enter via the Columbia Basin and encompass the Panhandle and the northern fringes of central Idaho. On Monday, a brief clearing in the morning will be followed by smoke from the southwest.
