Mostly clear air with some local impacts

Air quality yesterday was good across much of the northern half of the state while the southern portion experienced mostly moderate air quality. Forecasts for today are good to moderate today across the state.

Yesterday's strong cold front brought much below average temperatures and sunny skies for today. More breezy winds will be possible across much of the southeast and eastern Idaho and along the Nevada border. Strong northerly flow aloft will provide a steady stream of clear air from Canada through the day.

Smoke impacts will generally be light today with some moderate localized impacts near fire burning in Idaho. Much of central, eastern, and southeast Idaho will avoid any wildfire smoke impacts today. The best chance for higher impacts will be in the afternoon in the vicinity of fires burning north of Coeur d'Alene.

GOES-17 Visible “True Color” satellite image from 8:31 AM MDT indicates multiple plumes from Idaho wildfires across the state.
