Smoke impacts today are
expected to be greatest over the Panhandle, Central Idaho, Southwest Idaho, and
the East Salmon Mountains. This afternoon, the Salmon river corridor to Riggins
looks to keep smoke with impacts south to McCall. Central Idaho and Southwest Idaho
should expect to see hazy conditions. Due to light transport winds, smoke may
lift but will likely again settle into the area with the setting sun. This
evening, expect smoke to drain into the drainages of the Upper Middle Fork
Salmon, Lower Middle Fork Salmon, Middle Salmon, Upper Salmon, Pahsimeroi, and
Lemhi.
Tomorrow, the passing cold
font and increased wind speeds will get rid of smoke in the afternoon; however,
ample smoke is expected to come into north Idaho in the evening as fire
activity increases. The highest concentrations are expected to be located over
the Clearwater, Spokane-Coeur d’Alene Corridor and north within the Purcell
Trench, and southwest Idaho. Salmon and the northern drainages should expect to
be impacted from regional fires in the afternoon beginning around 2pm. On
Saturday night, the Purcell Trench looks to be the most heavily impacted with
drainage smoke that is not expected to lift before 5pm on Sunday. Once more,
Salmon and Southwestern Idaho will see impacts from fires burning to the
southwest. Expect similar conditions on Monday with higher readings in the morning
and lifting in the afternoon. Expect impacts across all of northern Idaho,
central Idaho, and southwest Idaho.
