If you’ve been checking in
all week, you won’t be too surprised to hear that once again the Panhandle will
have some of the greatest smoke impacts today. The Treasure Valley and east to
the Wyoming border will also see big impacts. There looks to be improvement across central Idaho, from Idaho County
south to McCall and east into Salmon and Island Park. Below those area, south
Idaho looks to remain deteriorated through the day. Smoke will continue to come
in from the southwest impacting the western part of southern Idaho more than
the eastern side. A little improvement may be seen in the eastern portion. The extreme
Southeast Highlands region will get some improvement due to thunderstorm
activity in the area. The smoke that lifts this afternoon will settle back down
this evening with heavy impacts in the Panhandle within the Purcell Trench down
into Coeur d’Alene.
Tomorrow looks optimistic for
marginal improvement over southwestern Idaho while central Idaho looks to
deteriorate in the afternoon. At least we’re getting some relief from the heat!
Check back in tomorrow for an updated outlook for the weekend!
This image shows plenty of smoke over southern Idaho
within the Snake River Plain, and locally opaque conditions over the Panhandle
while central Idaho had relatively clear conditions.
