Smoke impacts today are expected to be greatest over the
Idaho/Washington border from Lewiston north to the Canadian border and east to
the Montana border due to regional smoke transport, especially within the
Purcell Trench from the Washington/Idaho border and north into Boundary County.
The eastern Central Idaho Mountains are also expected to be impacted at the
surface in the morning. Due to light transport winds, smoke will again settle
into the area at night, draining into the Treasure Valley, Upper and Middle
Snake River Plain, and within the Spokane-Coeur d’Alene corridor. Widespread
haze, particularly over southern Idaho, the Central Idaho Mountains, and the
Panhandle, is expected today – again. Tomorrow, winds will shift to be from the
south, which will allow for smoke to come into Idaho from fires in California
and Oregon in a pattern similar to last week.
This image shows the
widespread, moderate-level impacts across eastern Washington and Oregon,
northern Idaho, and western Idaho with good readings in eastern Idaho.
