Today, smoke impacts are expected
to be greatest over the Panhandle and south to the Grangeville area with lesser
impacts over south-central and eastern Idaho. The highest air quality monitor values
should be expected within the valleys and drainages from the Canadian border
within the Purcell Trench and south along the western border of ID/WA into the
Clearwater drainages into the Palouse. Smoke over the Central Idaho Mountains
will move east, but should miss Salmon this afternoon and stay to the south. Smoke
should lift during the late afternoon before settling again in the evening. Smoke
looks to have impacts from the South Fork of the Salmon and east into the Upper
Middle Salmon, Middle Salmon, Upper Salmon, Pashimeroi, and Lemhi into the
Upper Snake.
This evening, smoke should drain into the Upper Snake via the
Lemhi and Birch drainages moving south to Pocatello and east to Island Park. It
looks like there will be local nighttime impacts in the vicinity of McCall. The
Panhandle will also be heavily impacted this evening with smoke settling within
the Purcell Trench down into Spokane while the Clearwater looks to experience
lesser impacts.
This
image depicts forecast smoke impacts to be within the drainages of the Purcell
Trench across the Panhandle, the drainages around McCall and into the Lower
Payette Valley, and across the eastern Central Idaho Mountains into the Upper
Snake River Plain.
