As you can see on the map at the top of the page, air quality is degraded across the entire state, with the worst readings up north. Smoke impacts today are expected to
start off heavy in the Panhandle through Central Idaho with elevated smoke
conditions likely shared throughout the state as the day progresses. Smoke is
likely to be transported from the north to southwest and south-central parts of
the state. Some minor improvement in air quality can be anticipated today in
the north and central areas while the Snake River Plain may see an increase
beginning to develop. Active wildfires will continue to influence local air
quality conditions. Yesterday's post details some things you can do to be safe and more comfortable during these very smoky days including drinking more water to thin mucus in your respiratory tract to make coughing more efficient. Yes, you need to cough! It will help clear your lungs. So if you can, stay indoors with a cool glass of water today! Your lungs will thank you.
The image depicts possible transport of smoke
from the north and impacting SW Idaho. While most of the country is avoiding
wildfire smoke impacts the west is taking a beating from it.
