Smoke impacts today are expected
to be greatest over the Panhandle with lesser impacts over south-central and
eastern Idaho. There will be a merging of smoke aloft over Central Idaho today
as smoke from the north moves to the south and smoke from the south moves north
with the prevailing weather. Smoke over the eastern Central Idaho Mountains
looks to miss Salmon this afternoon and stay to the south. Smoke may lift in
the afternoon but this evening expect it to drain into the drainages of the
Middle Salmon, Upper Salmon, Pahsimeroi, and Lemhi into the Upper Snake. The
Panhandle will also be heavily impacted this evening with smoke settling within
the Purcell Trench down into Spokane.
A swath of clear skies across Central Idaho is bounded by smoky skies to the north and south.
